The goal is to grow together and empower our Engineering Schools by mutual collaboration, so we are able to elaborate and participate in meaningful infrastructure projects.

1. Structural engineering

Sharing modeling techniques and research methodologies to design and build earthquake resistant houses and infrastructure.

UCA at El Salvador is researching the structural design of low income housing, built with local materials, in order to improve its earthquake resistance.

UCA at El Salvador has a laboratory research facility and they offer to IAJES engineering schools the folowing:

The load on the wall is slowly incremented in a cyclic way (pushing and pulling) until the wall fails.

2. Smart cities, logistics and sustainable transport networks.

Sharing research methodologies, good practices and tools to analyze and optimize the logistic networks that a city needs to achieve quality of living, with emphasis in public transportation networks.

Smart cities make use of digital technologies in conjunction with traditional infrastructure to provide solutions to the challenges that cities are facing. This involves understanding new technologies and training human capital to be able to develop new forms of governance that use the knowledge produced by understanding and employing models and methods with data that are available in cities.

Smart infrastructure could make use of Big Data, Open Data, Cloud Computing, Scalable Arquitecture, Sensors and Artificial Intelligence.

Nicolás Rincón is working with the Masters Program in Logistics and Transport in the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana at Bogota, Colombia.

An observatory for public transportation is being developed to understand how the population moves with current and proposed infrastructure. This information is used to make recommendations regarding the required improvements in the public transportation network system that can lead o is optimization and reduction of commuting times. Additionally, transport infrastructure for different modes and freight transport policies are being studied.
